Hernando LB Darren Hambrick plans to sign with Nebraska-Kearney on Friday, Leopards coach Dwayne Mobley said Thursday afternoon.
Hambrick initially told the Times in the fall that he was committed to Missouri. The two-star prospect had offers from Kent State, Western Kentucky and UMass, among others.
Hambrick, a 6-foot-2, 235-pound senior, tallied 10.5 sacks during his last two high school seasons and helped Hernando advance to the playoffs in three consecutive years for the first time in school history.
He will be the third Leopard senior to sign to play college football; teammates Tyrail Hawkins (Georgia Southern) and Robert Hill Bronson (Tennessee Tech) signed Wednesday.
UNK, an NCAA Division II school, has recruited the North Suncoast hard. Pasco DB Damien Wilson signed with the Lopers on Wednesday, and former Mitchell RB Ricky Trinidad led UNK with 1,037 rushing yards this season.
