East Lake's Jake Hansen commits to Iowa State

East Lake linebacker Jake Hansen put an end to his recruiting process by committing to Iowa State this weekend.

“I felt comfortable there and the coaching staff was very down to earth,” Hansen said of Iowa State. “They have great facilities as well as a nice college town.”

Hansen, a two-star prospect according to 247Sports, made his decision on Saturday, two days before the start of fall practice. He took an unofficial visit to Iowa State on June 20. He also visited Army, Northwestern, Utah and Wake Forest this offseason.

“I mean it's big to commit just because it was important to me to go into the season with a school,” Hansen said. “It’s very relaxing now that I'm not as pressured.”

Last season, Hansen recorded a team-high 126 tackles to go along with three sacks, two interceptions and two caused fumbles. He goes into this season as the leader of a revamped Eagles’ defense.

Hansen is just the latest Pinellas recruit to commit to the Cyclones. Other former county stars who played for Iowa State include Leonard Johnson (Largo/Tampa Bay Buccanneers), Jeremiah George (Clearwater/Jacksonville Jaguars) and Jarvis West (Gibbs/Toronto Argonauts) .
